About the Mock Census

The 2026 Mock Population and Housing Census will test the full census process before the main enumeration. This includes field methodology, household listing and enumeration, digital data collection, supervision, monitoring, ICT support, data quality assurance, and operational coordination.

This exercise will help Statistics Sierra Leone assess readiness, identify challenges, improve systems, and strengthen the overall implementation framework for the national census.

Available Positions

1. Supervisor

Supervisors will coordinate and monitor enumerators during fieldwork. They will ensure that enumerators follow approved census methodology, community entry protocols, field movement plans, household coverage rules, and digital data collection procedures.

Supervisors will also use tablet-based reports and inbuilt application tools to monitor daily progress, validate enumerator work, check completeness, identify duplicates and partial interviews, and ensure that all assigned households and structures are properly covered.

Minimum Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution, with at least three years of experience in census or survey data collection. Strong ICT, digital data collection, supervision, and data quality control skills are required.

2. Enumerator

Enumerators will collect accurate and complete census information from assigned households using approved digital census tools and field procedures.

They will visit assigned households and structures, conduct interviews, record responses accurately, avoid duplicate or incomplete entries, report field challenges, and ensure confidentiality of all information collected.

Minimum Requirement:

OND, HND, Teacher’s Certificate, or higher qualification. Previous experience in census, survey, listing, or related fieldwork will be an added advantage.

3. Data Quality Assurance Officer

Data Quality Assurance Officers will support real-time monitoring of data quality during the Mock Census. They will review incoming data for completeness, consistency, duplicates, partial interviews, missing values, unusual patterns, and other quality concerns.

They will also use dashboards and monitoring tools to track field performance, compare mapping/listing outputs with enumeration progress, identify recurring data quality issues, and prepare daily summaries and recommendations.

Minimum Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, Demography, Economics, or a related field. Experience in data management, survey operations, census operations, or digital data collection is required.

4. ICT Support Officer

ICT Support Officers will support the deployment, configuration, testing, and field use of tablets, digital census applications, connectivity tools, synchronization systems, and related ICT infrastructure.

They will troubleshoot hardware, software, login, synchronization, connectivity, and application-related issues to ensure that field teams can collect, validate, and transmit data smoothly.

Minimum Requirement:

Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. Experience supporting digital data collection systems, tablets, mobile applications, or field ICT operations will be an added advantage.
