Statistics Sierra Leone is the central authority for the collection, processing, analysis and dissemination of accurate, clear, relevant, timely and high quality statistical information on social, health, demographic, economic and financial  activities to serve the needs of users including government and the general public.

Documented Methods

We review and approve all definitions and classification schemes employed in statistical work with particular reference to issues of labour statistics, gender, disability, regional and similar socioeconomic issues in accordance with appropriate national and international standards and classifications.

Highly Experienced Staff

We have highly trained and experienced staff and collaborate with other National Statistics Offices in Africa and elsewhere to ensure that we produce credible data for national development. Our staff undergo regular training to update their knowledge and skills so that we serve our stakeholders better.

Great Leadership

A Statistics Council provides strategic guidance to the Statistician-General in all areas of statistics. The Statistician-General, with the help of a strong Management Team, implements the decisions of the Council, administers Statistics Sierra Leone and efficiently manages its property and business.

Vision

The Vision of Statistics Sierra Leone is to create a viable National Statistical System (NSS) with Statistics Sierra Leone at the centre for the coordination, production, dissemination and accreditation of official statistics to support evidence-based decision-making processes at both policy and planning levels.

Mission

The mission of the Statistics Sierra Leone is to coordinate, collect, compile, analyse and disseminate high quality and best-practiced official statistics to assist informed decision-making, and discussion within the government, business and the media, as well as the wider national and international community
