Census Officer (DCO)
LOCATION: ASSIGNED DISTRICT
REPORTS TO: NATIONAL CENSUS COORDINATOR (NCC)
DURATION: SEVEN (7) MONTHS WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION
TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR THE DISTRICT CENSUS OFFICER (DCO)
The District Census Officer (DCO) plays a pivotal role in the successful planning, coordination and implementation of census activities in collaboration with the Stats SL Regional Manager/District Statistician within the designated district.
He/she coordinates the implementation of the 2026 Population and Housing Census activities in the assigned district, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness throughout the implementation of the census.
He/she ensures adherence to national guidelines, maintains data integrity, and fosters effective collaboration between the field staff, local authorities and the National Census Secretariat.
QUALIFICATION:
An
advanced degree in Demography/Economics/Management or related field from a recognised
university.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS COMPETENCE:
He/she must:
- Have more than five (5) years post qualification experience.
- Possess extensive experience in coordinating censuses and surveys in line with national and international best practices.
- Demonstrate proven leadership and managerial skills, and well-developed communication skills.
- Possess extensive knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office suite, and android devices/Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) technology.
- Possess excellent problem-solving skills and can work under pressure to achieve tight deadlines.
