District Publicity Officer (DPO)
LOCATION: ASSIGNED DISTRICT
REPORTS TO:
a) RESPECTIVE DISTRICT CENSUS OFFICER (ADMINISTRATIVELY)
b) DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATION AND PUBLIC RELATIONS (FUNCTIONALLY)
DURATION: SEVEN (7) MONTHS WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION
TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR THE POSITION OF DISTRICT PUBLICITY OFFICER (DPO)
The District Publicity Officer (DPO) plays a crucial role in managing, coordinating and disseminating public information and communication activities within the district. The DPO supports the District Census Officer in implementing the Census Communication and Publicity Strategy. He/she will ensure accurate, timely and relevant information is shared to promote transparency and public engagement in the census process.
QUALIFICATION:
At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities, preferably in Mass Communication, Media Studies, Journalism, Arts, or a related field from a recognised university.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS COMPETENCE:
He/she must:
- Be fluent in English, Krio, and any local language of the district of origin.
- Have five (5) years experience working in public relations, media, research, etc.
- Have in-depth understanding of public speaking, communication, and media landscape of Sierra Leone.
- Have excellent writing, reporting and communication skills.
- Possess excellent problem-solving skills and can work under pressure to achieve tight deadlines.
- Possess extensive knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office suite, and android devices/Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) technology.
